Bonus Scene 1:
"We have to warn the President! He's in deep danger!"
Axel nodded at Lord Gunter von Colloredo. The German part of the Empire of the Three Part Alliance was close and interpenetrated the Russian part. The Japanese part had explored in othr directions and remained aloof.
"We checked for a legal path to Tier Two Stuttgart and have found blocks in all directions. The Council is debating where, under the circumstances, a direct portal is an allowable emergency responce."
The other German, Lord Hans von Mansfeld, winced. "Indeed. These days, opening an unauthorized portal could be seen as an attack."
Gunter snorted. "Under these circumstances? All I need is time to phone the President and warn him that there may be imposters, including one of me! Then all will be forgiven."
Or used as an excuse to attack us. This is such a bad idea.
Bonus Scene Two:
Axel spotted the Octogon getting settled around the table, and strolled over. "So, what's this thing you guys have found?"
Henrik looked around with a grin. "I should have expected you'd be the one they'd send to check it out. It's looks--to us--like a golden string from world to world. They don't look like portals, and it's a long term, possibly permanent phenomena."
"Huh. Well, my orders are to jump through, take a very fast look at it and return."
"Excellent, we're really curious." Nods all around the table as the helmets went on.
They all looked excited, enthusiastic and eager. Healthy. Henrik had even managed to bulk up a bit. The other two gates had been switched to quads controlling the portals, but the older portalmakers weren't recovering as fast as Henrik had.
He's got to have been one of the most stubborn, determined, kids ever condemed to a portal coffin. Hell, he's only twenty-six.
