_Cybogs_ Cover 2
Better background? Or worse?

I'll have to find some more futuristic vehicles, but I like the buildings.

The colours telegraph magic and urban fantasy, but they can be lurid and personally, I think they are being generically overused on some very trashy covers. You know the ones, witches with swirly magic and a chocolate box full of sexy male choices. I think that feeling could put off someone looking for a harder science fiction edge.
My main concern is that the figures get blurry and lost in the background. Buildings are fine on both covers. I liked the colours in the other cover, it was very clean, especially on a thumbnail.

I like it better. Although if that is supposed to be Eldon the skin is much lighter then described in the books.

I like both backgrounds, but in the new image the two people seem slightly translucent. I don't know if that's deliberate, but it looks weird, and they seem underlit. OTOH, I like the composition, and I do think it is telegraphing genre well.

I prefer lighter covers to darker ones. I also like the way the people stand out in the first cover better than in the second one.

I prefer blonde Eldon, just with darker skin. He is more individual that way. The darkness makes it feel too doomy and apocalyptic. The story may get dark, but Eldon is fun.

The translucent characters look odd. The sky might be a bit lighter unless the title covers up a lot of the darkest bit. I like the buildings and even the cars aren't bad.

When we fuss about your guns just remember you have never had one this bad. :-)

That doesn't look bad. The guns appear robust and finctional. Remember that slim stity out bits catch on the environment and snap off, so those two antenna like extensions wouldn't have made it through testing!

I Prefer the first cover. the two figures don't seem to have the right opacity vs the background. the males legslack any detail other than BLACK. it makes it look like they're holes in reality, whilst at the same time I can see the buildings through their upper bodies. The Gun the female is holding in the picture looks too big and heavy for her slim arms - maybe she should swap weapons with the male?

The translucence is a machine artifact from layering pictures in gimp. I just slapped this on with out fixing it to see how it looked with this background.
