All Right. Professor Rael needs to do some thinking while I work on _Marooned_, so posts may get a bit sporatic.

A thought on Professor Jues: "What a maroon."

Awww
Sob. Professor Rael is awesome.

Maybe we could get some lectures? Or mentoring students? Would you like us to provide questions that students might come to ask her? (hee, hee, hee!)
matapampamuphoff on June 5th, 2019 03:42 pm (UTC)
Go for it.

"I don't get the difference between Withes, Mages, and Wizards. Do you think you could get Xen Wolfson to explain it to us? Maybe with his shirt off?"
(Anonymous) on June 5th, 2019 09:03 pm (UTC)
Oh yeah, that Master of the Multiverse poster would be out and about.
(Anonymous) on June 6th, 2019 02:04 am (UTC)
I don't know which poster you're referring to, but I would note that the one for horse-set magazine he did as a horseboy (that entire article) is probably part of the coursework for Info teams, Army Intelligence, Internal Relations COINtel, & courses offered to Law Enforcement for Undercover operations...

Urfa might want to put in a request to Disco for guest lecturers for the courses where Infiltration is a thing, including the Action Team track (and wouldn't that just burn most of the students & staff involved).
matapampamuphoff on June 6th, 2019 03:40 am (UTC)
I suspect there a lively discussion going on as to the relative merits of the "Endi Dewulfe" poster vs the multitude of "Wild Wolfson" posters from the news coverage of Xen's return in Marooned.

Urfa's probably been wanting to nab Xen for the Current Events Seminar all last year, if only he hadn't gotten himself kidnapped. Now, I'm sure he'll ask him to talk about the ongoing negotiations and so forth.

Infiltration is more of an Info Team thing, although in _Spy Wars_ the lines were quite crossed.

Wasn't it 2 compasses of Action Teamers sent to Purple?
matapampamuphoff on June 6th, 2019 01:14 pm (UTC)
Yeah. And mostly Action Teams sent to Comet Fall. The One are _slowly_ getting out of the post-Granite Peak loss mind set of being ready to fight as soon as they spot Earthers.

Hey Prof, what happens when you put something radioactive in a Bag of the Prophets? Does the radiation leak out? What about if it's a fast time Bag?
matapampamuphoff on June 8th, 2019 09:44 pm (UTC)
"I haven't the fainest idea, and I'm not about to ask you-know-who, because he'd probably try it. And I'd hate to accidentally kill him."
(Anonymous) on June 9th, 2019 02:15 am (UTC)
So Rael & The One aren't aware that Wolfgang Oldham wasn't recaptured & returned to Transworld until after he stuck a nuke in "normal" bag?

Though that obviously doesn't answer the question of a "fast bubble/bag".
matapampamuphoff on June 9th, 2019 04:38 am (UTC)
I suspect that the only people who knew about that are long dead--except for Wolf, and his memory's not reliable.
(Anonymous) on June 9th, 2019 04:10 pm (UTC)
So Professor, I was wondering about the size of Bags of the Prophet. When I use it it's big enough to put around a car, but when my step-sister uses it, it fits inside her purse. What determines how big it is? What happens if both of us try to use it at the same time - how big would it be, or who would it pay attention to (hey, are they sentient?).
matapampamuphoff on June 9th, 2019 05:48 pm (UTC)
"Bags are not alive, let alone sentient." _One, I wonder who her step-sister is?_ "And you'd have to get someone to put a second set of handles on it for both of you to use it. Then all your stuff would get mixed up with hers, and she'd probably borrow your car."

Scowl from the questioner.

"The size of the handles has nothing to do with the amount it can hold. They are very stretchy, and squish down on everything in it, although Xen says at some point they try to pop back out to spherical."

"Oh? How big does it have to be for that?"

"Xen says he's only seen it work on a small city--seven of eight kilometers diameter--but apparently the threshold is about half that."

snicker. well, I was trying to describe a situation where two different people could both be dimensionally talented, and that tends to mean the wolfpack. so, stepsister? just put in whatever relationship makes the question work. More specifically, I was intending the question to be about uses of a bubble that did not necessarily require a handle, so there was no external limitation imposed on the bubble or it's opening. So then, two people concentrating on using the same bubble.

But I guess such an approach might not occur to any Oner currently at the University except Arno and Ryol.
matapampamuphoff on June 10th, 2019 03:58 pm (UTC)
Any of the dimensionally talented can catch their own bubbles. No need to share. For special uses of the phenomena, Rael isn't an expert and would refer them to Xen or Q.

In _All the Little Gods_, Simon had a small bubble corridor that he used to send messages to Wolf. The same thing was used again in _Comet Fall_ When Rustle left Ash with Xen when he was a baby. Is that the sort of thing you're talking about?
