Dithering . . .
To write the final fight now . . . or to go back and start putting in little scenes--the three ladies from Pre-cog, more Dave and Qamar, more bits of campaigns . . .

Yes, I procratinating, trying to figure out how to get everyone I want into the last big scene. How exactly to get that narcisitic ass to snap and do something that stupid. How to get Dave to _have_ to rely on his magic. How to get Qamar to breakthrough her block.

Re: big scene
She was one of the people captured in "Rain of Fire" so she's been a goat, with Nil keeping an eye on her for awhile.

another thought
Evil thoughts....
If Dave were to get goated so Qamar not only has to defeat the baddy herself but then has to use um her innocence to get through the chain spell.. having got rid of the others....
too contrived?

How about Rael going back to talk to Peeve, her discovering some major attack planned for the post election party (when all the targets would be in one place). Rael showing up with a repentant Peeve in tow willing to confess for a deal. The PC losing it when he sees Peeve has turned.

Checking Peeve for info about "won't have to worry about Izzo much longer" is how Rael found out about the bomb factory, and the trap set to catch Ycrw there. So Rael's already found out everything he knows.

No this just needs to be a narcsisist losing the election, and "If I can't have it, no body can have it."

Somehow that seems really strange, and just a bit too much. Such an ending would need a lot more buildup to make it believable.

How about one of the senior plotters gets unmasked and tries to take someone hostage? Trying to get away at the last minute still makes more sense than a true narcissist. And a cell structure that took a bit longer to get through than Peeve might have revealed more info at the last minute. And in my mind, this is more likely to end up in the magical battle you want, than having the politician do it.

I just think it needs more reason than "I lost the election" for someone to go ballistic in such a way that is obviously both immediately illegal and so likely to result in death from the One when it comes to trials.

Oh, it's not _just_ that he lost the election. There are these eight bomb makers that Dave might mention meeting in Italy ... three dead children ... Insa being treated with respect.

He's going to go down in flames.

It's Izzo's party, with those half-Native children there, and their step-fathers getting government jobs! And that Native-loving bodyguard, disgrace to all Oners; maybe her boyfriend; that Philosopher who messed up the One; those Homesteaders . . .

I'd think Izzo's friends and colleagues are quite sufficient to provoke all sorts of rage-induced poor choices.
