_Warriors of Interior_ part 1

That'll teach me to whine about being out of ideas . . .

The Warriors of Interior Relations

"Aaaaaah! That's the worst one yet! Who chose these vids?"

The Warriors of the One Vid Marathon. Nothing quite like Wednesday nights at the Black Horse Barracks.

Izzo glanced around the combination common room/gymnasium/cafeteria and wondered if the theme of tonight's vids had been suggested to twit the budding new warriors, or if one of them had suggested it to twit the majority.

Them? Or us?

Izzo glanced at Xait's profile beside him as she shook her head at the impossible feats of a very unconvincing Warrior, risen from the dead to avenge the murder of his last descendent.

The real world is getting nearly as weird as the movies. He looked the other way, to where Rael was laughing and throwing popcorn at the screen. Or maybe weirder.

"Did the script writers even consider talking to a geneticist? The only Prophets without thousands—tens of thousands—of descendants are the two who died at the Arrival. And since 'Mikel the Eye' was first generation Warrior, in a culture that married young and practiced polygamy, I'll bet there were damn few who left few descendants."

Xiat snorted. "And ruin a perfectly ridiculous story? I just hope Rael isn't taking notes and planning on trying every single hokey myth she can find."

Izzo looked back at the screen where Mikel was plucking out his magic eye, to throw it through the door to scope out the opposition before he charged in to beat the heavily armed Bad Guys with his bare hands.

"That's a scary thought."

Now soliciting ideas for hokey myths . . .

Ebsa was looking at the various mythical powers attributed to warriors in "Directorate School":

"He skimmed the History text for a reminder, and remembered to buy the Introduction to Magic text. Test Thursday. Remember to study! He hunted through references about the abilities of the Warriors. Some of the myths were wild. Telepathy over thousands of kilometers, slice that worked over several hundred meters and cut through thick steel armor. Obvious exaggerations, but not complete fabrications like flying, seeing in total darkness, and invisibility.

Ebsa thought that over. Levitation was listed as an extremely energy intensive mental effect. Actual flying, one hundred percent levitation plus what? Push or pull spells for motion? It seemed more likely the myths were just exaggerations of strong levitation applied briefly. Magic instead of night vision glasses?"

Alas, I think you've already covered most of those mythic powers already. Even seeing in total darkness has more or less been covered by the training Isakson was giving.

There was that Warrior mummy movie that Ra'd gritted his teeth through once . . . don't remember the details.

Superhero movies ought to supply plenty, though: run fast enough to time travel, see in x-ray spectrum, steel skin, read minds, stretch body parts, invisibility, fly, shape shift . . . some of these we've seen Old Gods and/or Baby Gods and/or Warriors do already.

By the by, my husband and kids have been watching The Flash. The producer should've hired you to sort out the time travel parts! I listened in on a conversation where my husband tried to clarify to the teens what was going on and they all got even more confused! Dr. Sturm is easy to follow.

Drat, my suggestion about tvtropes bad rpg tropes pages seems to have turned into spam. I did include two links...

I have never got even one link through the spam filter, never mind two.

IIRC a spam with a link did get through recently.

I checked the spam filter. It's not there. I can post links, but possibly only in the OP. Let me try . . .https://www.amazon.com/Directorate-Omnibus-Pam-Uphoff/dp/1939746299/

Spam filter is either off or on. How lucky do I feel?

I don't think I'll experiment before I get back.
